-DieOut! was formed in august of 2005.
-The forming members, Matt, Tommy and Yan were playing in a skacore band called The Glowing Beavers. They wanted a more mature and heavy sound, influenced by hardcore bands like Comeback Kid and Strike Anywhere. They started to make music together as a 3 piece and recorded their first demo ever: « World War 3″ which still included some ska parts.
-In early 2006, Matt wanted to focus on his guitar skills, and the band really needed a frontman to handle this important duty. They asked long time friend Lio to have a tryout in their rehearsal basement in Vance (Be). Soon after, Lio joined, as he was first nicknamed the « Michel Leeb of Hardcore » (The Rory Bremner of Hardcore for our english readers… Thanks Chris) because of his abilities to copycat Matt’s voice on the demo.
-Now a 4-piece, DieOut! decided not to hurry to play live, they took another six months to write songs, and seriously practice every weekend.
-July 1st 2006 is the date of DieOut!’s first live appearance, lots of friends showed-up and the band apparently made a very good first impression, which was a motivation to go on and record their first EP later in september. The 7 songs off « Until We… » were recorded in 5 days in Nothomb (Be) with Stephane Bach at his home studio, mastering was handled by Philou/Fools (RIP) (Jeronimo, Hollywood Porn Stars,…).
-Now looking for labels to release the CDEP, they sent lots of e-mails and first got in touch with Quentin from Eternalis Records (FRA) and Rory from Nothing To Prove Records (UK) who really liked the songs but didn’t have the funds to release « Until We… » by themselves. The band eventually first met I For Us Records (BEL) boss, Michel, later at a show. He enjoyed the songs as well: « Why not co-produce the record between the three labels? » he said. « Until We… » was released in march 2007 as a 7 songs CDEP. One song also featured on a German hardcore comp « Home Is Where Your Friends Are », from Day By Day Recs.
-To promote the record, the band was playing shows every week, everywhere. They first sailed to the UK in april the same year and played shows in the south of the country. They shared stages with their now best friends in Our Time Down Here.
-To pursue other interests, Yann left the band soon after the successful « Until We… » release party they gave in Arlon (BEL) in May. A great replacement drummer joined the band: Gaylord, who played for the now defunct local band Drunky Nun.
Bandless for months he really enjoyed the idea of playing with DieOut! and after a two months break, and real hard-working rehearsals, Gaylord played his first show with the band in the same venue they had their first show, a year back.
-The 4 guys played countless shows in many different venues and countries (France, Germany, Switzerland, …) and were not really focusing on writing new songs. They however had the chance to record a 2 songs new « internet-only » EP with Christophe Roth and Gregory Bauchau in Liège (BEL) (Chênée Palace Studio). While recording and adding more guitar lines to the original ones, Matt came up with the idea of adding a second guitar player in the band.
-Gaylord introduced Nico to everyone at a rehearsal in the end of 2007. While playing with a local metal band Too Young To Die (RIP), Nico secretly wanted to join a DieOut!-like band to improve his punk riffs: the lucky kid (he is the youngest member of the band) played his first show during 2008’s DieOut! and Our Time Down Here European « Godzilla » Tour, including gigs in Geneva and London.
-Time passing by, it was now time to write fresh new songs and build a serious show. They recorded 6 faster and louder anthems at the end of 2008 with their friend Gaspard DM in Nico’s basement. The recording was first intended to be a preprod for an upcoming album, but impressed by the quality of the recording, Michel from IFU asked DieOut! to release the songs as a 7″ record. NTP’s Rory agreed with the idea and « Iteration » was released in august of 2009, as a co-prod between IFU and NTP records, making the 5 guys a « dream come true », as they always wanted to release a vinyl record of their own.
-The band continues to write its history as you read this. Keep an eye on DieOut! : the best is yet to come.
